Late morning on Macon Meadows – some tree damage following recent winds! Only bird of note was a male Sparrowhawk. It made 2 or 3 dashes through the trees hoping to catch one of the many young birds off guard.

Just found out how to get on the blog so now able to give details of one of our (me and Sylvia) best days at Doddington. Last Friday (the 3rd) 11 black-tailed godwits flew in at 08-30 and started preening, then at 08-50 17 avocets flew in for 5 minutes and left and the godwits left at 08-55. By 09-00 it was very quiet! Later at the back pool we had a family party (2 adults and 2 juvs) of spotted flycatchers living up to their name for 5 minutes right in front of us!
