A sad day at Doddington this morning on the flood pool. 1 little ringed plover, 2 pied wagtails and 3 workmen with a big excavator putting in a large drainage pipe to empty the pool. She has no thought for nature at all, only money! The flood pool is less than two acres of a 700 acre estate, but as a pool it doesn’t generate income.

WeBS count at Doddington this morning. The flood pool has had a lot of water taken off exposing a lot of mud; so it is good at the moment and attracted 12 golden plover in as well as 65 lapwing, 36 teal and 4 shelduck — will it last? . The resident shelduck pair looked well settled when another pair flew in and landed and a lot of fighting followed, which only ended when each pair went to opposite ends of the pool and stayed there looking grumpy.
