Black Swan back on Doddington but not much else this morning.Better at Lea Forge with Kingfisher,Grey Wagtail,Tree Creeper,Linnets,Red-legged Partridge,G.S.Woodpecker and all the common Warblers feeding young.

Best birds at Doddington this morning were Little Owl and Common Sandpiper.At Lea Forge,Whitethroat,Blackcap,Chiffchaff,2 Goldcrests,2 Greenfinch,Kestrel,Raven,Reed Bunting,Linnets and Song Thrush.

Congleton, River Dane May 2019. From the town bridge: Goosander female and 7 fluffy young. Sightings on 04/05/2019 and 07/05/2019. Male goosander on 08/05/2019. Grey Wagtail 07/05/2019. Between the Aldi roundabout and the park: Dippers are nesting as we have seen one with a beak full of moss but we haven’t seen any juveniles. Sightings on 04/05/2019, 05/05/2019 and 08/05/2019.

A male and female Wheatear,bizarrely perched high in the tree tops were circled several times by a third which then flew at Lea Forge this morning.At Doddington a pair of Little Owls and a female Yellow Wagtail that dropped into the crop field adjacent to the unit road.Also Reed Buntings,Mistle Thrush,all the Hirundines,22Swifts and 4 Shelducks.

Our first Swifts of the year for Doddington with 9 over the pool this evening.Also around 450 Sand Martins,65 House Martins with just a few Swallows.

At Doddington this morning were 60 swifts with around 150 hirundines feeding low over the water and the bank around us; also a common sandpiper; 3 singing reed warblers; canada goose broods of 7; 4; 3 and oystercatchers nesting. At Lea Forge a nice male wheatear over the tip and many warblers including sedge warbler and whitethroat.

Spent a couple of hours at a lovely calm Doddington this morning. Generally quiet on the pool but picked out a Barnacle Goose, a single Yellow Wagtail, a couple of Shovelers and a Shelduck. Also saw 6 Oystercatchers and plenty of breeding activity
